About the Rock

Founded in 2000 by Pastor Miles McPherson, the Rock Church held its first service at San Diego State University's Montezuma Hall. Services continued at SDSU and other temporary locations for more than four and a half years before moving into to its current interim location in the Serra Mesa area of San Diego. The Present

To accommodate the rapid growth, the church has increased the services offered per weekend, but still does not have enough space for all the mid-week meetings or ministry activities. Because of these constraints, Rock Academy Christian school conducts classes at an off site rented facility.

Clearly, the Rock needs a permanent home in which the ministries can be consolidated, soul-winners can be cultivated and a community of worship and evangelism can be developed.

What is np3?

np3 stands for Nehemiah Project 3. Like Nehemiah who obeyed God by rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem the Rock Church has answered God's call to build a facility from which the message of Christ can be taken to the entire world.

Our Nehemiah project is to renovate two buildings at the site of the former Naval Training Center (NTC) in Point Loma and to transform them into the Rock Church & Academy. The number three stands for the original timeline for the project, three years. NP3 has now been extended to however long it takes to pay off our financial commitments for our new home.
